“I recently borrowed My Daddy Is A Soldier from our local library for my niece & also took it to work. I am a nursery nurse in the Colchester garrison nursery which has approx 150 children. We have often commented how a book would be great for us to use & hooray!! You have produced 2!! We are extremely happy with the real photos & fantastically easy to read flow you have provided. We have a couple of other books that have recently come out, but personally yours come up first for me & I have reccommended them to anyone who will listen!! Our supervisor agreed to purchase both books for all of our 5 classes where our ages range from 1 - 5 years. We are using your books as a tool to help our children prepare for the upcoming tour in Afghanistan in October. As you can appreciate, the absent parent is away on pre-deployment training a lot. Our children ask for these books to be read daily & we enjoy reading them. You have used many key words the children can relate to. Many many thanks for these wonderful books!!” Chrystal Clark, St Nicholas Pre-school and Nursery, Colchester Garrison
“As a school with military children, we couldn’t pass up this great resource. It gives children of all ages a starting point for discussing the emotional issues related to being a child in a military family.”
David Forrester, Headmaster, Pucklechurch Primary School
“As a stimulus My Daddy is a Soldier is fantastic because it is so relevant; it is a real story. It is happening to this little girl and it is happening to them.”
Vicky Inglis, Early Years Foundation-Stage Manager, Woodlands
“My Daddy Is A Soldier is great for young children, they can really relate to the pictures and the text. The subject matter raises awareness for all children and expands their knowledge and understanding. A brilliant book I am looking forward to more!”
Georgina Wynter, Manager, Pucklechurch Playgroup
“I think this book gives the forces children some prestige I suppose, to know that other people out there recognise this is happening and it’s happening to real children and they are like the child in the story. I also think it’s nice that they know other children have their Dads going away and it’s not just happening to them.” Marjorie Dean, Deputy Head at St George’s School
“What a wonderfully beautiful and simple book to share with young children. It helps deal with difficult issues in a sympathetic way. I work in a forces Nursery and this book has formed the basis for a whole term’s activities whilst Daddy is away.”
Justine Bryant, Sunshine Centre, Chester
“We are delighted with My Daddy Is A Soldier. The children have really enjoyed looking at and talking about it; the photographs are beautiful and the children can really relate to them.”
Mandy Gamley- Manageress, First Steps Akrotiri
“Thank you very much for the copy of your book. It made us laugh, it made us cry, and it will be very useful for our families when the parents have to deploy. Thank you for signing our copy, I am sure it will increase it’s value on the Antique’s Roadshow!”
